We offer iron treatments in Plano, Allen, Frisco, McKinney, and nearby areas in TX.
Our treatments infuse your ailing trees and shrubs with iron via trunk injection or a soil probe.
Are the leaves on a few of your trees yellow and wilting? If so, they may be suffering from a condition called iron chlorosis. Iron chlorosis is a result of iron deficiency and can afflict trees that struggle in the alkaline soil commonly found in Texas. Without sufficient iron, your trees and shrubs are not able to photosynthesize and produce the chlorophyll that keeps your leaves green.
If you have plants that need an iron boost, we can take care of that for you. At CitiTurf, we provide iron treatment services to residents in Plano, Allen, Frisco, McKinney, Murphy, Wylie, and surrounding areas in Texas. Our treatments infuse your ailing trees and shrubs with a shot of iron via trunk injection or a soil probe. We primarily offer iron treatments in the spring season, however, you can schedule with us at any time throughout the year.
How do we perform iron treatments on your trees and shrubs?
We perform iron treatments on your trees and shrubs via trunk injection or a soil probe, and sometimes both if the tree is really struggling. With trunk injections, we drill a small hole in the trunk of your tree so that we can deliver liquid iron directly to its vascular system. The vascular system then transports the iron to all of the branches, stems, and leaves, replenishing depleted iron reserves. When we use a soil probe, we infuse liquid iron into the soil surrounding your tree's roots so that it is available for absorption. Once absorbed, the iron spreads gradually to the rest of the tree.
Both trunk injections and soil probes are viable methods to supply iron to your plants efficiently and effectively.
When we do perform iron treatments on your trees and shrubs?
We like to perform one-time, annual iron treatments in the spring to help fuel healthy growth as your trees and shrubs come to back life after their winter slumber. This way we ensure they have enough iron to develop verdant foliage. However, we can also perform iron treatments at any other time throughout the year. If you notice signs of iron deficiency, such as yellow and wilting leaves, feel free to contact us. We will come out to your property, evaluate your trees, and help get them back on track.
What causes iron chlorosis?
Iron chlorosis refers to the yellowing of leaves on your trees and shrubs due to a lack of iron. In Texas, it occurs in plants that aren't well-suited to grow healthily in our alkaline soil that has high pH levels. This type of soil does not contain a ton of iron and can cause iron deficiencies in trees and shrubs that require a lot of it. Since iron plays a key role in photosynthesis and chlorophyll production, insufficient amounts of it hinder your plants' ability to remain healthy and green. That is why our iron treatments are so critical.
Pin oaks and Savannah hollies are two trees in our area that commonly need iron treatments to stay healthy.
