Part mascot. Part lawn care expert. Full-time bulldog with a get-it-done attitude and a weakness for extra scoops of food.
Hey there! I’m Chester, the one and only bulldog of CitiTurf. You’ve probably seen my mug on our bright yellow trucks cruising around your neighborhood. You can count on me to be your loyal companion in all things lawn, tree, pest, and sprinklers. And yes, killing bugs and tracking rodents in your house — I’m into that too.
CitiTurf has been around since 2005, but things didn’t get fun until I joined in 2008. These days, I mostly work from the office, advising our clients on all things outdoors. But let me tell you, I used to be the Swiss Army Knife of the lawn care world. Fertilization, weed control, irrigation, tree care, pest control — you name it, I’ve done it. In 100+ degree Texas heat, no less. For a bulldog, that’s basically running a marathon every day.
Now, don’t let my tough exterior fool you. I’m actually a bit of a nerd. I love reading up on the latest techniques for maintaining your lawn, caring for your trees, and dealing with pesky bugs. Call me a know-it-all, but I take pride in being the best in the biz. I could read the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension site all day long.
When I’m not working, you can find me hanging out with my human family. My dad happens to be my boss. Believe it or not, I’m a bit of a DIYer. Yeah, yeah, I know what you’re thinking: “But Chester, you’re a bulldog, not a gardener!” Let me tell you, I’ve got skills.
I’ve had a couple of English Bulldog brothers over the years, but let’s be real — I’m the OG. I currently have a French Bulldog brother named Oliver. How do I put this nicely? He’s not exactly pulling his weight in the work department. No interest in yard work whatsoever. Which, as you can imagine, annoys me to no end.
If you ever have questions about your lawn, trees, sprinklers, or those creepy crawlies showing up uninvited, don’t hesitate to ask. My team of licensed, highly trained experts and I are always here to help. I’m the one you’ll hear from when there are important updates — weather delays, seasonal reminders, or advice on what your lawn needs next. Think of me as the friend who actually knows what he’s talking about when it comes to your yard and bugs.
Your Bulldog Buddy,
Chester 🐾
Chief Happiness Officer, CitiTurf

I used to be an ordinary bulldog. Grew up in a middle-class family. Loved running around and playing with my human brothers. Loved my bones and my naps. Life was good. Real good. I was sleeping about 14 hours a day. Okay, maybe 16. Don't judge.

Then my dad — who owns CitiTurf — decided a "part-time job" would teach me important life lessons. Learn to work. Appreciate the value of money. To put it mildly, I was not happy. There were bones to chew. Naps to take. There was absolutely no time for work. But try telling that to your dad when he's also your boss.

I started going to the CitiTurf office every day until lunch, shadowing my guys. (I call everyone on the CitiTurf team "my guys" — there are actually a bunch of women in the business. They don't seem to mind.) At first? Didn't love it. Why would anyone work in 100+ degree temperatures? For 8 to 10 hours? And the allergies — my mom had to start giving me eye drops. Ugh. But somewhere along the way, I learned everything about weeds, lawn health, tree care from our arborists, pest control, and my personal favorite: rodents.

After that first summer, something changed. I had way more energy. Turns out sleeping all day actually makes you more tired — who knew? I lost 8 pounds. And most importantly, I discovered I genuinely love the business of outdoor services and pest control. Here's what I've learned: even if you're not passionate about something at first, when you start getting good at it, you start to like it. And not to brag, but I got really good.

All these years later, I love what I do. I've come to appreciate the heat and hard work — it keeps me fit. And my mom gives me an extra scoop of food in my bowl every night, so that's a win. These days, think of me as the English Bulldog who wants to help you however possible. I give advice, educate our awesome clients on everything lawn, tree, and pest, and try to make my friends smile with a little humor along the way. I just want you to be happy!

Rodents. Don't ask why.
It's a bulldog thing.
Our mascot, Chester, is named after the real Chester — a lovable English Bulldog who was Jonathan’s (CitiTurf founder) first Bulldog. He was loyal, happy, and just wanted to have fun. He might not have known a thing about lawn care & pest control, but his spirit lives on every time you see that bulldog face on our trucks.

Whether it’s about your lawn, trees, bugs, or why your sprinklers are acting weird — Chester and his team are ready to help.
